The Lake Miltona Association coordinates an Annual 4th of July pontoon and boat parade. All members are invited to decorate their 'boat', register it, then follow a leader around a part of the lake to pass by judges floating stand. First and second place awards are made for both catagories - distributed to winners later that afternoon.
The 2011 Parade
The parade started at 1:00 on Sunday, July 3rd. There were two departure points, the East Public Access and the West Public Access. Judges along the South Shore made two awards in each of two classes for pre-registered boats and pontoons:
- Boat - 1st place Bill Townsend $75.00 - 2nd place Matthew Davis $25.00.
- Pontoon - 1st place Randy Hansen $75.00 - 2nd place Julie Swanson $25.00
The award winners' names are being engraved on a plaque which will be mounted on the wall of LJ's Restaurant in Miltona. A slide show of many of the entrants is posted here, right click, then left click on open.
- A photo of the first place pontoon was too blurry to include - the decorations were updated from the 2010 2nd place pontoon shown in the next paragraph.
- If any viewer can identify the Bill Towsend boat in the slides, please send page number and quadrant to me, labenson@q.com, thanks!
